Dr. David Martin knows that vision plays a significant role in human development and learning and that detection of vision problems must start at an early age. In 2010, he established Family Vision Development Center, which provides vision therapy and neuro-developmental vision rehabilitation in Aurora, Illinois. His practice specializes in providing eye care for children who exhibit developmental lapses due to vision problems as well as people in need of eye care therapy as a result of sports-related injuries and trauma.
“There is a significant need for these services
in the community I serve. Because of this, I
can give back and support the local
community and businesses.”

In 2015, after experiencing rapid business growth, Martin needed financing to purchase specialized diagnostic equipment and working capital to expand his business into a larger location. He received a loan from Accion in August thanks to a partnership with The Hartford through its Communities with HART program, which supports businesses like Martin’s that are having a positive impact in their community. In addition to purchasing his new equipment and expanding the business, he also recently added an associate doctor to his practice.
“There is a significant need for these services in the community I serve,” Martin said. “Because of this, I can give back and support the local community and businesses.”
Martin and his staff are dedicated to the health and happiness of the Aurora community. They work to educate the community on vision health and how to detect vision trauma problems early, as well as providing current medical information and articles, both through links on their website and in newsletters. Martin also supports many schools in the Aurora area by donating to their annual events and sports programs, as well as presenting at local PTA meetings to educate parents and teachers about how vision impairments can impact learning in young people.
